Glossary of payments, PIX and stablecoins
The terms you'll run into when integrating collection, payout and conversion — explained plainly.
Stablecoin
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency pegged to a stable asset — usually the US dollar — to keep its value with low volatility.
On-ramp
An on-ramp is the process of converting traditional money (like the Brazilian real) into crypto assets — for example, paying with PIX and receiving stablecoin.
Off-ramp
An off-ramp is the reverse of an on-ramp: converting crypto assets back into traditional money — for example, from stablecoin to reais via PIX.
Cash-in
Cash-in is money coming into a platform — receiving a payment, for example via PIX.
Cash-out
Cash-out is money leaving a platform — a payment or withdrawal to a recipient, for example via PIX to a key.
PIX Copy and Paste
PIX Copy and Paste is a text code representing a PIX charge; the payer pastes the code into their bank app to pay.
